The Carers was one of the first private homecare services in Perth, established in May 1989 by Michelle McGrath and David Fosdick.
Michelle, completed her training as a Registered Nurse at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne. It was in her role as an agency nurse Michelle realised the possibility of using staff, other than registered nurses, to provide care to disabled and elderly people in their own homes.
After moving from Melbourne to Perth in 1986, Michelle saw the growing need for private homecare in Perth and with David launched The Carers in May 1989. Michelle established the systems, managed and co-ordinated staff while David focussed on the financial management of the business. Over time David developed a propietary software program specific to our clients, customers and staff which has created effiencies within our systems while delivering a comprehensive communication system to all parties.
